about

This was recorded in 1998 at Carlos Pereira's studio in Brooklyn. This short-lived band was a really wonderful experience for me - we played at the Knitting Factory and a couple big festivals they put on - Texaco Jazz Fest and the Atlantic Jazz Festival. Somehow after we recorded these tracks I got distracted with lots of sideman work and never took the time to release them. Merceditas used these first three for a dance performance once at Rutgers. The last two had other lives, including Opening which was for a dance piece by choreographer Amy Cox and performed at St. Mark's Church and partially funded by a grant from Meet the Composer foundation.
