about

written originally for Timebone (my band in Seattle that featured Arnold Hammerschlag, Briggan Krauss, and a few different bass players - J. Granelli, Mike Bisio, John Silverman & at the time of this tune's composition, Phil Sparks - this tune was written when Phil's dog, Sparky, passed away. (I had gotten to know Sparky when I dog sat for Phil when he took his family on vacation once). So, Sparky wasn't my dog but I wrote the tune for his passing anyway.

This recording features a kind of quirky blues-inspired vaibe, and a chorus of the wonderful horn trio - Andy Gravish, Greg Wall, and Ben Williams, who were the frontline of both the bands, Greg Wall's Simcha All-Stars, and The Hi-Tops.
Also there is a wonderful swinging chorus by pianist, Mitch Schechter, and the bass groove held down by my rhythm section partner in so many situations, bassist, Brian Glassman.
